History of Bactrian Camel
Bactrian camel or Balkhi camel is a species of camel that lives in the Far East, Central Asia and the Middle East. Scientists believe that unlike Dromedary, which was domesticated in southern Saudi Arabia, Bactrian camel was domesticated by nomadic tribes in Central Asia, Mongolia, and northern China, and that the nomads domesticated Bactrian camel for transportation and hard labor. Later, due to the development of civilization and the emergence of villages and hamlets and the settlement of nomadic tribes, Bactrian camel have been used for plowing and campaigning and the use of wool, meat and skin.

The history of the presence of Bactrian camel in Iran is not clear, although in the Avesta of the Zoroastrian Bible, written between 530 and 570 BC, there is a lot of reference to camels, but it is not clear what is meant by camels. Some believe that camels in Avesta meant Bactrian camel and Dromedary entered Iran years later and at the same time with the conquests of the Iranians in Mesopotamia, Palestine and Egypt. This hypothesis is based on drawings made on the walls of Persepolis between the 6th or 7th century BC.
