Introduction to Alpine Race:
The origin of the Alpine race is France. This breed is distributed in all regions of France and 55% of the population of goats in the record of this country belongs to the Alpine breed. A prominent feature of this breed is its high compatibility with various breeding methods, including the industrial closed system. This breed has a high ability for lactation and has a unique adaptive power among dairy breeds.
Alpine goats in Iran:
Today, alpine goats can be seen in some places, most of which are the result of interbreeding through sperm with indigenous breeds. In terms of popularity, it is currently less well known than the Sunan, but in recent years, with the importation of livestock and genetic products, some alpine traces can also be seen among the herds.

Appearance characteristics of Alpine breed:
The body surface of these goats is covered with short brown hair, but in some cases, multicolored strains of alpine have also been seen. This goat has a deep and wide chest, its pelvis is wide and slightly bent, and the limbs are attached to the body with strong connections, and the position of the legs is perfect. The alpine goat’s mammary system is bulky and the proper connections in the posterior and anterior parts of the breast have caused the breast tissue to shrink very quickly after milking and return to its original state.
Alpine goat breeding:
Alpine breeding programs to improve milk quality began in the early 1970s. A base population of 159,000 entered the record-keeping program, of which 41,500 were regularly inseminated. Genetic advances resulting from breeding programs have led to excellent breeding and reproductive performance not only in France but all over the world. In recent years, Firooz Farm, through various scientific researches and genetic modifications, has attempted to modify the genes of native sheep with the help of suitable genes for alpine goats and Lacan sheep.
